“A WOW OF A RAINBOW” The 1869 $2 was the first of a series of issues that extended into the 1920s with minor design modifications, mostly involving the back design. The initial design included a band of blue stain that was to serve as an anti-counterfeiting feature. This, along with the red seal and black and green design elements, gave the note an array of attractive colors. This is a most attractive example that is printed on bright paper with decent margins and centering. PMG notes on its holder ” Exceptional Color”.
