The first $5 Silver Certificates feature an iconic green “Silver Dollar Back” design. The faces of the 1886 and 1891 $5 designs have U.S. Grant in an oval frame at the right center. These are extremely popular and difficult to obtain in top condition. This first “Silver Dollar Back” is scarce with less than 50 notes reported from the 1,500,000 printed.
