Triple Signature Gold notes are exceptionally rare, and this piece is no exception. One of only 29 examples of this type, it features the engraved signature of Assistant U.S. Treasurer Thomas Acton at the bottom center, along with the signatures of Treasury officials Bruce and Gilfillan. This particular note displays a strong overall appearance, with vibrant color and intricate detail. The obverse showcases the bust of President James A. Garfield, engraved by Charles Burt, while the reverse features a large eagle clutching a lightning bolt. This vignette, titled “Ocean Telegraph,” commemorates the completion of the Atlantic cable in 1858. A remarkable note, it would undoubtedly be a cherished addition to any collection.
