This Gold Certificate note, although lightly circulated, still displays great color, bright paper surfaces, and very good margins. The 1922 $50 Gold Certificate is a simple design with lots of white space, designed in order to draw the eye to the engraved elements that are present, in keeping with the design philosophy of the time. A large portrait of Ulysses S. Grant is the focal point of the face flanked by gold design elements including a 50 protector, serial numbers, and the Treasury seal. The back is printed in a gold-orange color with simple denomination counters in each corner.
