The 1934A Federal Reserve $500 note is a part of the high-denomination currency series primarily circulated among banks and the Federal Reserve until 1969. Originally issued in 1918 with a different design, the 1934 redesign replaced John Marshall’s portrait with that of President William McKinley on the obverse, accompanied by a green Treasury seal, green serial numbers, and the black state seal letter “J.” The reverse presents a simple design, prominently featuring the denomination in each corner, making the note a notable example of high-denomination U.S. currency history and design evolution.
