The 1934A $500 Federal Reserve Note is part of a high-denomination currency series used mainly by banks and the Federal Reserve until its discontinuation in 1969. Initially introduced in 1918 with a different design, the 1934 redesign replaced John Marshall’s portrait with that of President William McKinley on the obverse, accompanied by a green Treasury seal, green serial numbers, and the black state seal letter “J.” The reverse features a minimalistic design, with the $500 denomination prominently displayed in each corner, highlighting this note as an important piece in the history of U.S. high-denomination currency and design.
