Fractional Currency

Fractional money was the first currency system where the actual money in circulation such as coins and banknotes were only a fraction of the total money supplied. This includes deposits and credit. This system allows banks to create income through lending money. This leads them to a greater amount of money existing in the economy than the physical currency available.
